The 3D Theatre is located within The Annexe building of Science Centre Singapore. The theatre is a multi-function hall equipped with Dolby 3D Digital Cinema technology and a flat projection screen measuring 10m x 4.2m. It can seat up to 300 moviegoers and was officially launched on 29 December 2010.
How the Dolby 3D System Works
The Dolby 3D Digital Cinema technology projects alternating full-color images for the left eye and right eye that are not quite identical with respect to their primary color frequencies. The audience wears passive glasses with filtering lenses that are precisely tuned to these differences, thereby preventing each eye from seeing the images intended for the other eye.
The rotating filter wheel assembly is installed in our projector. It moves between the lamp and the picture element, inserting for 3D while retracting for 2D. A Dolby Filter Controller (below) automatically synchronizes the filter wheel with 3D digital content as it is projected.
Lightweight passive glasses bring the picture to life for the audience!
